What draws you to wedding photography?
I have loved taking photos since I was a little girl looking through my family’s photo albums for the first time. I have always felt so much warmth and joy and love when I look through old memories – and weddings are the ultimate memory-makers! It’s super fulfilling to document such a significant time in my clients’ lives and give them those tangible memories. I also love that weddings have such a variety of different photo components throughout the day. Still-life photos for details, meaningful family portraits, fun couple photos, and so many candid, serendipitous in-between moments. No two weddings are the same!
How do you want couples to feel when they revisit their photos?
I want them to remember the joy they felt marrying their partner and spending the day with the people that mean the most to them – and remember that any stress and hard work was worth it. I also want to help them remember everything in vivid detail, which is why ‘true to life’ editing is super important to me. I want the colors, the vibes, and the feelings to be accurate for their memories. I want them to feel proud sharing them, not just now, but for years to come.
Where do you find creative inspiration outside of weddings?
I don’t typically seek out creative inspiration, but I really try to just notice the beauty in everyday life. Things like the feeling of the sun on my face, traveling to new places, appreciating all the colour around us, seeing movies in the theatre, looking at old photos, listening to music, noticing the way the light comes through a window – these are all little things that make me feel more connected to photography.
What are your favourite moments on a wedding day?
This is a tough one! It’s honestly different for every wedding. I guess a consistent favourite would be the moments when you can see the little private, joyful connection the couple is having with just each other, even if they’re surrounded by other people. Like when they see each other for the first time, or after they walk down the aisle just married, or during the first dance. It’s so important to make sure you take in the little moments together, and I love to see it!
Is there a dream location you’d love to shoot a wedding in?
Yes! There are actually two dream wedding venues in my area that I would still love to shoot at: TWA Hotel in New York City and Greenville Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
Then just some general dream locations would be: London, Chicago, Ravello in Italy, and Palm Springs in CA
